In the early 1990s, I chose to leave my corporate job, and was fortunate enough to be laid off. After 10 years, I had worked hard, was good at what I did, and had had moderate success doing it. But I wasn't healthy or happy. I decided to go to school for acupressure and a year later began also taking Chinese herbology classes. In 1992, I founded "A Healing Place", a private practice where I offered acupressure and soon after added Chinese herbal therapies as well.

Taking the classes in Chinese herbology led me to co-found the Connecticut Institute for Herbal Studies in 1995 which in turn led me to develop and launch www.chineseherbshop.net for the purpose of providing Chinese herbs on-line. That was 1997.

In 2008, I closed the acupressure portion of my practice essentially closing "A Healing Place" after 16 years. With the school and the practice of acupressure behind me, I am now focusing on expanding this website. In the future you will see herbal remedies specifically for your pets and your children. Merri Korn, MS, LMT, ABT is Licensed in Connecticut for acupressure, is a certified Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, and a member of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and the Connecticut Holistic Health Association (CHHA). She has also taught classes in the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), both Five Element and Eight Principle theories, the practice of acupressure, Five Element Energy Analysis for diet and health and the use of Chinese herbal medicines for common ailments.
